Get Oikou.

Oikou Host is free to run yourself. Install it on a computer you own to start your Personal Cloud, then open its web apps from a browser or your phone. Downloads are behind sign-in with your Oikou account.

Oikou for Mac

A menu-bar app that runs Oikou Host, and with it your Personal Cloud. It carries everything Oikou Host needs, so there is nothing to install first, and it keeps itself up to date.

  1. Sign in with your Oikou account and download Oikou-<version>.dmg.
  2. Open it and drag Oikou to Applications.
  3. Open Oikou. It starts your Personal Cloud and walks you through the set-up.

macOS 13 or later, Apple silicon or Intel. Signed with the Contextual Labs Developer ID and notarized by Apple. The downloads page lists each file’s size and SHA-256.

Oikou for iPhone

Oikou is a browser for your own web apps. They run on a computer you own.

Use your web apps, search, photos, files and notes from your phone, and get their notifications. You add web apps and change settings on your Personal Cloud’s own web page. Everyone you invite signs in with their own Oikou account.

Coming to the App Store. It is not available to download yet.

For iPhone and iPad with iOS 17 or later.

Install from a terminal

The same Oikou Host, installed by a script, for Linux servers and for Macs you manage from the command line. The downloads page gives you the command to copy.

macOS, Debian, Ubuntu and Fedora.

What you need

  • An Oikou account. Your Personal Cloud has no login of its own: you approve it with your account, and the people you share it with use theirs. Sign in or create one.
  • A computer that stays on. A Mac, or a Linux machine running Debian, Ubuntu or Fedora. No special hardware.
  • A way for your phone to reach it. Tailscale, which needs no domain, or a Cloudflare tunnel on a domain of your own. The set-up installs what your choice needs.
  • Docker, to run web apps. Oikou Host starts it when a web app needs it.
